NOVEMBER POTLUCK MEETING
November is the annual potluck dinner at our regular meeting. The club is providing chicken and drinks. For those whose last name starts with A-G, bring salad; last name H-N, bring a main dish (au gratin potatoes, baked beans, etc.); last name O-Z, bring a desert. You are not limited to this. If your last name is before O and you make a killer dessert, bring it. Prizes for best joke or tall tale (remember there will be children present), most gold for the year, biggest nugget and most unusual find.
October 2007 Meeting Minutes
Tami Palin called the meeting to order and welcomed guests.
Treasure’s report - $5706.96
Business – New membership cards will be issued with payment of 2008 dues. It will really help if you can mail the application form (see below) and check in before the January meeting or have the application and check already filled out when you come to the November meeting. The new cards will be green in color to help identify those with current membership. Some discussion was held on whether or not they should be worn visibly. The consensus was that they do not have to be displayed, but should be carried on your person whenever prospecting on our claims.
The highway litter pickup is Saturday, Oct. 13th. There were concerns about the construction on Highway 21. There were enough who still volunteered to go, so it was not cancelled.
We need volunteers to use GPS’s to mark claims. Ron Mackelprang will update the claims guide if we can get him some help. Get your name and phone number to Tami.
Discussion on guests using claims (how many, how often, etc.) was tabled until the January meeting.
There was discussion about buying some new prospecting equipment for club members to check out and use. There are concerns about the liability if someone were to get hurt while using the club’s equipment. This was tabled until the liability issue can be looked into.
Bob Oakes ran into a couple who were metal detecting around Pioneerville, looking for old railroad spikes and other artifacts. They gave him some maps showing locations of old railroad lines and flumes. Bob shared copies of these maps with members.
Rob went prospecting on the Klamath River and found 5 ounces of gold. Brought video to show.
Judy brought in several newsletters from other clubs to look at. Tami had some of ours, from the past, to look at.
Randy Evans needs a kidney transplant and Bill Gardunia wants to help him with his expenses. He will donate a Conestoga Wagon yard planter (see picture below) to be raffled, with all proceeds given to Randy. Tickets are $5.00 apiece and can be purchased at our next meeting or you can send a check to:

A reminder that there will be no December meeting.
Al Amos won the nugget in the drawing and will provide refreshments for the January meeting.
Meeting was adjourned.
Letter from the President:
Greetings, everyone! I'm looking forward to seeing many of you at the upcoming November potluck meeting. This is a great time for the whole family to attend and get reacquainted with everyone. The club will be providing fried/baked chicken for the potluck and drinks, and then everyone should bring a potluck item to share. See the minutes from the meeting to note what you should bring. Please, also bring your table service, although we will have extra for people who need it. We will be giving away 4 prizes: One for the best joke/tall tale, one for the most gold found during this year, one for the biggest nugget, and one for the most unusual find. Start thinking about what joke/tall tale you want to regale us with, just remember that this potluck meeting will have more children than usual attending, so plan accordingly!
Also, remember that we don't have a meeting in December since this is such a hectic time of year, but we will reconvene in January.
Tami Palin, President.
