Secretary’s report for the IGPA mining meeting.
August 9, 2005 Chuck called the meeting to order New business: Chuck asked for volunteers to put together the newsletter, Warren mentioned that we could put out a post card to announce when the meetings will be held. Tami volunteered to put together a simple newsletter with the previous month’s minutes, the treasurer’s report and meeting times until we can get something more permanent. Chuck said that someone from the boy scouts called and wanted to have some demonstrations for the kids. Any current member can take school groups or boy scouts out to our claims. This is a good way to get kids involved and keep our hobby alive. New members and guests were welcomed and Tami explained a little bit about our group. There will be an outing this Saturday at the Miss Lucy claim, the club will have the high banker out there if you would like to learn how one works. There is a map to the claim in the claims guide. There will be an outing in September to the Silver City claims; the club has access to 6 claims there. We will discuss the outing further at the next meeting. October is the highway clean up. Chuck invited everyone to his claim after to do some mining. More details to come. Chuck said as soon as someone gets a hold of the Andersons, we will get the clubs mining equipment from them and he will store it at his house. Al Malmstrom needs to get the names of club members and the time you put in so he can file the assessment work on the Silver City claims. Jesse gave the treasurer’s report. He said when we get the newsletter up and running if you don’t get one check with him to see if your membership is current. With the change of treasurers there may have been some mix-ups. Old business: Tami is waiting to see how much money the patches will run before she purchases them. She will report next month. There was more discussion about how many claims the club can have. We decided last month to keep all the claims in the clubs name, Tami made the motion, Rob Forbes seconded it and the club passed it. The club has 5 and Chuck has 5, the maximum we can have is 10 and still keep our exempt status. The reason Chuck’s claims are counted is because any claims that officers of the club have count against the club. Al Malmstrom made a motion to put Hanna 1 back into Rob Robison’s name, Tami seconded it and the club passed it. Ron Mackelprang talked about having the club lease claims instead of putting them in our name. This way we can have access to as many as we want, it will also give the club more appeal because we have more to offer. Al Malmstrom said he would check in to it. Refreshments were served and Warren sold raffle tickets. The following people donated items to the raffle: Loren Gray-fire fly knife Buck Moore-3 collector plates and a Waterford crystal dish Chuck-2 snuffer bottles Angus Mackirk-6 gold vials and 2 crevice tools Stanley- cd holder Rodney Poe donated some items to the club. Warren auctioned them off and brought in $58.00 for the club. Thanks Rodney! The meeting was adjourned. Submitted by Tiffany Leib, Secretary
