Hello everyone! This month’s meeting will be special because
ELECTION, ELECTION, ELECTION.
Other than that, it will be a normal meeting. We need to have
people willing to fill the officer positions.
This month is the litter pickup. So, whoever is the new
president or vice president will need to go down to the highway
department at Glenwood and Chinden and get the signs and the
litter bags. Anyone who participates in the litter pickup is
invited to breakfast at Calamity Jaynes in Idaho City, and the
club buys breakfast for everyone.
It looks like it is going to be a low water year but still I
believe that adds possibilities to finding gold, because areas
that were previously underwater will now be accessible to just
panners and sluicing.
It has been a pleasure serving the club as vice-president and
president all these years.
See you at the meeting. Al Palin, President
IGPA minutes 03/08/05
The meeting was called to order by
president Al Palin. There were 53 present. He greeted the members
and guests. A motion was passed to approve the minutes. Rodney Poe
gave the treasurer’s report. There is $3446.39 in the checking
account, $625 in the Miss Lucy Bond, $50 in petty cash, for a total
of $4121.39. Al talked about the fact that we lost Dorothy Morton a
couple of weeks ago. He thanked everyone from the club who attended
her memorial service. He also mentioned that he will be contacting
Dorothy’s daughter to offer to do the assessment work on her claims.
We will also discuss water rights with her daughter. Al asked for a
report from the nominating committee. Jesse Leib is willing to run
for treasurer. New business: Al discussed the issue of lifetime
memberships. Additional lifetime members, beyond those listed in the
president’s message last time, include Gloria Otto, Greg Fredricks (Borah
High School principal), Warren Jindrich, Steve and Deb Anderson, Jim
Collins and family (owner of the China Wine Cup), and Susan Thies
(Dorothy Morton’s daughter). Jack Womack has 55-gallon barrels
available for the club. Al brought up the idea of having a credit
card available for the officers. This idea was tabled until the new
slate of officers takes over. There was news from the floor. Bert
Otto would like to sell his membership to LDMA, he’s asking $1000
for it. You can contact him about this. John Anderson said his wife
is willing to do embroidery for the club if people want their names,
patches, etc., done. There were nominations from the floor for
officers. In order to have the ballot printed in the newsletter as
required by the constitution, we will print a blank ballot that will
be filled in at the meeting. Spencer was nominated for president,
and James Simmons was nominated for vice president. The raffle was
held. Loren Gray won the president’s drawing and will provide treats
for the April meeting. The following people donated prizes for the
raffle:
Kyle Eden energy bars
Al Malmstrom puzzle (2)
Al Malmstrom bird book
Lucy Buus candy dish
Loren Gray specimen container
The 50/50 drawing was held. Susan Held
won $53. Refreshments were provided. We had a speaker but Al and I
had to leave early, so Al Malmstrom will report on her talk.
Respectfully submitted, Tami Palin, Secretary |
