President's Message:

Hello everyone! This month’s meeting will be special because ELECTION, ELECTION, ELECTION. Other than that, it will be a normal meeting. We need to have people willing to fill the officer positions.

This month is the litter pickup. So, whoever is the new president or vice president will need to go down to the highway department at Glenwood and Chinden and get the signs and the litter bags. Anyone who participates in the litter pickup is invited to breakfast at Calamity Jaynes in Idaho City, and the club buys breakfast for everyone.

It looks like it is going to be a low water year but still I believe that adds possibilities to finding gold, because areas that were previously underwater will now be accessible to just panners and sluicing.

It has been a pleasure serving the club as vice-president and president all these years.

See you at the meeting. Al Palin, President

IGPA minutes 03/08/05

The meeting was called to order by president Al Palin. There were 53 present. He greeted the members and guests. A motion was passed to approve the minutes. Rodney Poe gave the treasurer’s report. There is $3446.39 in the checking account, $625 in the Miss Lucy Bond, $50 in petty cash, for a total of $4121.39. Al talked about the fact that we lost Dorothy Morton a couple of weeks ago. He thanked everyone from the club who attended her memorial service. He also mentioned that he will be contacting Dorothy’s daughter to offer to do the assessment work on her claims. We will also discuss water rights with her daughter. Al asked for a report from the nominating committee. Jesse Leib is willing to run for treasurer. New business: Al discussed the issue of lifetime memberships. Additional lifetime members, beyond those listed in the president’s message last time, include Gloria Otto, Greg Fredricks (Borah High School principal), Warren Jindrich, Steve and Deb Anderson, Jim Collins and family (owner of the China Wine Cup), and Susan Thies (Dorothy Morton’s daughter). Jack Womack has 55-gallon barrels available for the club. Al brought up the idea of having a credit card available for the officers. This idea was tabled until the new slate of officers takes over. There was news from the floor. Bert Otto would like to sell his membership to LDMA, he’s asking $1000 for it. You can contact him about this. John Anderson said his wife is willing to do embroidery for the club if people want their names, patches, etc., done. There were nominations from the floor for officers. In order to have the ballot printed in the newsletter as required by the constitution, we will print a blank ballot that will be filled in at the meeting. Spencer was nominated for president, and James Simmons was nominated for vice president. The raffle was held. Loren Gray won the president’s drawing and will provide treats for the April meeting. The following people donated prizes for the raffle:

Kyle Eden energy bars

Al Malmstrom puzzle (2)

Al Malmstrom bird book

Lucy Buus candy dish

Loren Gray specimen container

The 50/50 drawing was held. Susan Held won $53. Refreshments were provided. We had a speaker but Al and I had to leave early, so Al Malmstrom will report on her talk. Respectfully submitted, Tami Palin, Secretary

A Word from the Vice President,

COME ONE, COME ALL! We are electing officers at this meeting and we need as many members as possible to attend. Be prepared to nominate from the floor if we do not have enough volunteers to run for office.

Typically, in most clubs or organizations, 10-15% of the members participate in the running of a club. Since we are up against the government trying to take away our rights as small scale miners, I would hope that a higher percentage of our members would get involved. We need people interested in keeping our club growing.

The state has come up with some new regulations, of course without any miner's impute, that could affect us all, even if our claims are not on state land. These regs. will even affect mining on private property. We will discuss these new regs. at the meeting Tuesday night. Please plan to attend.

Spring is just around the corner and I know we are all anxious to be out looking for that yellow stuff and enjoying good fellowship and hoping to find that rich deposit. GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!!!!!!

Al Malmstrom, V. Pres.

Treasurer Account

I have finished e-mailing and mailing membership reminders.  I also mail out membership cards and Claims Guides to those members that are unable to make the meetings.   Please fill out the application in the newsletter or from the web site if you have not already done so.  If your membership is not current, your name will be taken off the clubs roster.  You will be unable to rent the club’s equipment and prospect on our claims.  This will be your last notice.  Thank you for your support in the past and I hope that you will continue your membership.  Please contact me if you need additional information.
Elections will be conducted at the April meeting.  If you, or if you know of a member that is interested in an officer’s position, please fill out the ballet nomination that is in this newsletter.  The club needs some members to come forward because all officers’ positions will be vacated.  If no one fills these positions the club will dissolve.
     I have tried to summarize the responsibilities of each position;
President:  Preside over monthly meetings, appoint and supervise committees, and shall act as spokesperson for the Association.
Vice-President:  Perform the duties of President in his/her absence, assist President, and assume the office of President if it becomes vacant.
Secretary:  Maintain written records of Associations meetings, ensure minutes be posted in newsletter or read for clubs vote, assist President, and handle correspondence of Association as directed.
Treasurer:  Maintain records for collected dues and donations, maintain record of checking account, honor expenditures, summit financial report at each meeting, and present Associations financial records for audit when directed.

Please support the Association and run for an Officer Position.  If you have a position, you will be able to call on the assistance of past officers.  I know that the current officers will be more than willing to lend a hand.  We all want to see the IGPA continue to be a family orientated club.

I want to thank Jesse Leib for accepting the notation for Treasurer.  I asked him to write and introduce himself to the club.
Jesse Leib for Treasurer

I have lived in Boise for about 6 years and been prospecting about 1 1/2 years.  I like the opportunity to get out in nature away from the city, with the hopes of making that big find.  I am experimenting with all types of prospecting, including dredging, sluicing and metal detecting.  My wife, Tiffany, has joined me a few times.  I can't wait for my four month old boy, Tobias James, to get big enough to join me.  I enjoy the meetings and learning about prospecting through the club.

There will be a vote on the new bumper sticker at the April meeting, here is a sample of what it will look like.

Looking for that perfect camping buddy that is always ready to go when you are?  How about that prospecting partner that you never have to share what you find with, only your time?  You can be male or female because it doesn't really matter much to them.  They will always be ready to give you a loving glance.  If this sounds good to you and you have the room, why don't you stop by and see us real soon.  Take a look at all the new friends that are waiting to meet you.  Please visit your Local Humane Society, and give me a place to call home today.  Make a Friend for Life!
