PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Hello fellow prospectors.
It's March already and I'm ready to go mining. I was up to my claim in Idaho City the middle of February and there wasn't very much snow. Thankfully we are getting more snow now.
Don't forget nominations for officers this month and elections in April. We will be having the litter pick up in April as well. As usual we will have an outing at my claim after the pick up and breakfast.
See you at the meeting
VICE-PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Greetings everyone! I thought spring was on its way, but this great Idaho weather had me fooled!! Oh well, snow just means more water for prospecting later this year. Please note that we will be meeting in ROOM 308 at Borah for our March meeting, not in the cafeteria. Thanks, and we'll see you there!
SECRETARY REPORT
Chuck called the meeting to order. He welcomed new members and guests.
The minutes were approved as printed in the newsletter.
Ron Mackelprang called Chuck to give him an update on the claims that are for sale. The owner of the China Wine Cup and the Paymaster claims wants $4500.00 for both claims . A motion was made and passed to buy both claims for $4500.00. Gloria Otto would like to have the club members go up to Silver City this summer for an outing.
The meeting location will change next month; the cafeteria is being use for something else. Tammie will check for another place. The location will be printed in the newsletter and put on the website.
Chuck reminded everyone that there is not to be any smoking on school property, it is against the law and it will get is kicked out of the cafeteria for good. We have also been asked by the principal to clean up after ourselves and take out the trash when we are finished.
Last month we tabled the question of whether the club wants to purchase gold nuggets for the raffles. Warren Jindrich made a motion that the club purchase 10 nuggets and 3 to 4 grains each. There was discussion. Rod Kost said that he would sell the club what we needed for $600.00 an ounce. He will bring some samples to the next meeting and the club will decide then.
The club needs volunteers to take over the newsletter and drawing duties. Jack Womack said that he will do the newsletter. Thank you Jack! We still need someone for the drawings, please contact an officer if you are interested.
The officers would like to thank Gena Cameron for her work on the newsletter this past year.
Tami asked if the members are interested in setting up an outing schedule for the summer. That way if you are unable to make it to the meetings you can still come to the outings. Tami is willing to take this on but would like help. Rob Forbes volunteered. They will come up with something for the March meeting.
Elections are coming up and volunteers are needed to call all the club members to see if they are interested on being an officer. Al Palin and Danny Prochaska volunteered. All officer positions are available so consider helping. Elections will be held in April.
Jesse Leib gave the treasures report; he left the reports at home but between the bond, petty cash and the checking account there is approximately $6100.00. He thanks everyone who mailed in their applications. It made the line a little shorter at the meeting.
The drawing was held. Cary Singleton won the presidents drawing. He will bring the treats for the next meeting.
Submitted by Tiffany Leib, Secretary.
TREASURER REPORT
I have been processing memberships as fast as I can. I sent of a cashiers check to the BLM for the increase in the bond. I think we should be in good shape for mining on the Miss Lucy this season. Our family grew by one on 2/28/07. Maylee came at 7:01 pm. Everything went great. Due to this and tax season, membership processing may be a bit slower. I appreciate everyone who has mailed in their membership applications. This allows me to process the forms and have the cards ready at the meeting. Thanks again.
Jesse Leib, Treasurer.
